Helping youth expand their horizons

From telling the truth to studying, parents always want to teach their kids good habits. At Michigan First, we're happy to lend a helping hand. We offer several accounts, outreach efforts, and educational experiences for young people that set the tone for a lifetime of financial responsibility and smart savings practices.

  • MoneyKids: Kids under age 12 receive a special newsletter that teaches the basics of saving money. Check out our accounts.
  • MoneyTeen: Teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17 can sign up for a checking account to start learning how to manage their finances with the help of a parent or guardian. Read more about the account details.
  • Money Mentor: Teenagers and young adults can learn how to save, spend and manage money responsibly through our free financial literacy program.
  • Student Branches: Michigan First partners with several school districts and academies throughout Metro Detroit and Grand Rapids. Partnerships allow us to provide financial education programs in elementary schools and high schools, some of which have student-run branches.

Michigan First is a full-service credit union with branches that are easily accessible around Metro Detroit, Grand Rapids and mid-Michigan.
